Where is your footwear made?
We always want to be transparent with customers, yes, our footwear is made in China. Now let us explain, for many years we imported most of the materials (except the nylon webbing) from Taiwan and manufactured everything in Hawaii. The company who was manufacturing our outsoles and insole material decided to expand and to do this they opened a factory in China. After much deliberation we decided to move production overseas and have our trusted partner continue to make the same Scott Hawaii quality slippers. It was not an easy decision, with limited space of our facility (8000 sq/ft), and rising real estate costs in Hawaii, it was impossible to manufacture and warehouse the inventory necessary to support our growing business. Plus, the investment in new machinery needed to stay current with new manufacturing techniques is expensive and for a small family business it is very difficult to offset the cost before the machines become outdated. With this all said, we can assure you the only component that has changed is the labor, we work very closely with our manufacturing partner, ensuring fair-trade and ethical practices; the materials haven’t changed, we still only source the best. Plus, we offer the best warranty in the casual footwear category.
